My Teen Crushes

My hubby ventured into the darkest corners of the basement today, and hauled out the boxes of records. Please tell me you remember records!

After almost 20 years in an oven of an attic, and another 2 in a damp basement, I was dubious they had survived. But survive they did, and they sound, well, they sound like records, scratches and all.

I was so happy to find my boys, Michael and David, in good shape.

As a tween, I was convinced that I would marry Michael Jackson one day. I had only planned on dating David Cassidy for a little while. And the Monkeys? Not so much. Dating myself? Totally. But I am who I am and I don't give a damn....(okay, see if you can fill in the rest of that line!)

So, I must ask: who were your teen crushes?

LOL, I shall date myself with you...Bobby Sherman? David Cassidy...Shaun Cassidy (they would argue over who got to take me to the movies!) Leif Garret? When Grease (the original, LOL!) came out, well...Swoon!

Oh yes, I remember the records - still have mine too. My big time crush was Ricky Nelson, but there was also Richard Chamberlain. Guess I'm even older than you.

Oh that brings back memories. I have the two Partridge Family albums still, but no record player to play them, sigh. I was going to be the love of David's life!

Wow! Sew funny. David YES! Michael NO! Too young. You are forgetting Donny Osmond!!! Got to shake his hand last Labor day! What a thrill! Saw him and Marie at the Flamingo. They were awesome... Davy Jonees: Yes. The Monkees not sew much. Thanks, Mary :-))

wow, what a coincidence! Today I was going through my records to decide which I could take back to the UK with me and which i'd have to let go! .... they're just too heavy to take all of them, and I have about 800 back there so am not exactly short of some good old vinyl listening!

I remember all those bands and have a few of the same albums! I'm keeping a slim selection of jazz, classical and a few modern bands too!

Glad you found your old vinyl heartthrobs!

Shaun Cassidy and Mike Lookinland (Bobby from The Brady Bunch). My copy of Shaun's first album, with Da Doo Run Run on it, must have been covered in lip prints. Hee hee.

Oh my gosh. The Partridge Family "Up To Date" album was the first I ever bought. We were allowed to bring records to our 2nd grade class and each child could choose 1 track from their record to be played. I remember being so proud of my choice.

My partner is older than I, and he has always maintained that his first 45, by the Everly Brothers, shows much better taste. To each his own...

The "Up To Date" album shows that David's birthday is one day before mine, which seemed to indicate a natural affinity between us.

As far as daydreaming, I remember realizing that only David and Shirley had featured singing parts, and that I ought to pay some attention to the background parts (like Susan Dey's) so that I could join in if needed. How great to be of an age to believe such things were possible.

Thanks for the memories!

Must have been tweens together because I would have listed the same myself. But I did like Davy Jones also and there was Paul Revere and the Raiders when they feathered Mark Lindsey, huge crush.
